USCIS Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act
The USCIS centralized FOIA office receives, tracks, and processes all USCIS FOIA requests to ensure transparency within our agency.
USCIS FOIA is going digital. If you have an immigration court date pending and you filed a FOIA request, you can now digitially access documents you have requested through FOIA as soon as we process them. This saves time, saves paper, and eliminates the risk of your FOIA documents getting damaged or lost in the mail.
Our online delivery option is just one of the many enhancements we’re making to the FOIA Immigration Record SysTem (FIRST). At this time, you can set up an account through myUSCIS and link it to your case. Once complete, you will be able to log into the digital delivery center to view and/or download the records you requested.
Already have a myUSCIS account? Simply login and link the case to your existing account. Once you have linked your FOIA case to your account, we will email you when we have processed your case and your records are ready to be accessed.
Electronic Reading Room
We have created a new look for our Electronic Reading Room that provides a user-friendly environment with more topics to choose from. It also includes a search function that will look for keywords within the titles and teasers of the documents.
